I love my Best Bottom cloth diapers. My two favorite features of my Best Bottoms are the snap in insert and the reusable shell. Thus, when I recently found a Snap ‘n Wraps hybrid shell with a hemp soaker by Rainforest Babies for just $6.95 on clearance, I knew that I had to try one. Snap ‘n Wraps consist of an outer waterproof shell lined with soft fleece. A separate soaker insert snaps onto the inside of the shell. I was sold on the snap in insert, and, according to the product description, the shell can be reused if not excessively wet or soiled. I initially bought the ladybug shell, which is red with black. I also bought a butterfly, which is blue with white.
Unlike the other cloth diapers in my stash, my Snap ‘n Wraps hybrid shell is a fitted diaper. Although I prefer a diaper that grows from birth to potty training, I decided to give my first fitted diaper a change. Because my daughter weighs about 20 pounds, I opted to go with the large size, which fits 22 to 35 pounds. The small size fits 6 to 15 pounds, and the medium size fits 14 to 25 pounds. I can definitely tell that my daughter is on the small end of fitting into the large, so I am confident that she will comfortably grow into the diaper as she gets bigger.
The soaker that came with my Snap ‘n Wraps hybrid shell is actually a prefold diaper with two additional snaps. Putting the soaker in the shell is incredibly easy. I just snap the soaker into the shell and then fold the two sides over so that the soaker is folded into thirds. I like that that Snap ‘n Wraps soaker offers the simplicity of prefolds but the convenience of Best Bottom inserts.
As a hemp insert, the Snap ‘n Wraps soaker is incredibly absorbent. My daughter usually goes about four hours at the longest during the day without needing a diaper change. With the Snap ‘n Wraps hemp soaker, I can wait for four hours without worrying about leaks. The hemp soaker holds in all of wetness without any problems. I have even used my Snap ‘n Wraps diaper at night by adding in two additional Sunbaby bamboo inserts. Even at night I had absolutely no problems with leaks.
The only negative comment that I have about my new Snap ‘n Wraps hybrid diaper and hemp soaker is that the waist snaps on the shell are a little wonky. The smallest setting is too tight on my daughter, but the next size up is too big. Because of the placement of the snaps, one setting is missing between the small and the next smallest size. If I were to redesign the Snap ‘n Wraps hybrid diaper, I would fix the missing set of hip snaps.
Final Verdict: I am very happy with Snap ‘n Wraps hybrid diaper and hemp soaker, which just happens to be the first fitted diaper that I have tried. My only complaint is the minor problem with the missing set of hip snaps. Otherwise, the hemp soaker is incredibly absorbent, the diaper is easy to use, and I have had absolutely no problems with leaks. If you are looking for a convenient fitted diaper to try that combines the best of a snap in insert with a prefold, then I highly recommend the Snap ‘n Wraps hybrid diaper.
